SecureBio, LLC (‘SecureBio’, ‘we’, ‘us’, and ‘our’) is committed to keeping your personal information and data protected. This privacy notice explains what personal data we collect, how we process these data, and your rights as someone who has given us data.
Your rights stem from regulations including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Switzerland’s revised Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). This privacy notice applies to all personal data for which SecureBio is the controller.
SecureBio reserves the right to modify this notice. If and when this notice is modified, the ‘Last modified’ date and time on this page will also change to reflect it.
What personal data does SecureBio process?

We process the following information: full name, email address, phone number, communication body content, CVs, and metadata like email timestamps.
We process this information for the following purposes: replying to communications, assisting with hiring, contacting collaborators, fulfilling service commitments and support obligations, and maintaining records of stakeholder interactions.
Analytics and security data from visiting our website
If you visit securebio.org, we will store your IP address and related data (e.g. browser, browser language) automatically in our server logs. This is used for security purposes, to detect, prevent and combat harmful or illegal behavior.
The SecureBio website uses cookies to analyze how visitors use our website. We use Google Analytics for this purpose. This tracking is contingent upon user consent through the cookie disclaimer.
Legal basis of processing
We process data for legitimate interests. Specifically, SecureBio has legitimate interests in (a) securing our website and (b) communicating with relevant stakeholders – such as collaborators and job candidates – to facilitate collaboration and answer queries.
Data processors
As is standard practice, we use third party data processors (e.g. email service providers and Airtable), which process personal data on our behalf and for specific, agreed purposes. These processors may transfer data outside the EU with appropriate safeguards in place, which we can provide on request.
How long does SecureBio retain my personal data?
We do not store your data for longer than we need to. Depending on what the data is to be used for, we store it for different lengths of time. Some data is not stored at all, while other data is stored due to requirements from other regulations, which then require us to store the information for an extended period of several years.
What rights do I have? How can I make a query or complaint?
You have the right to request from SecureBio: access to copies of your personal data, rectification of inaccurate information, erasure of your personal data in certain circumstances, restriction of processing in certain circumstances, to object to processing, and data portability to other organizations.
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
If you wish to make a request or complaint, please contact us by email (preferred) at contact@securebio.org or by mailing us at: SecureBio LLC, 1 Broadway #13-100, Cambridge, MA 02142 USA.
If you are not satisfied with how your complaint has been handled, you also have a right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country of residence.
